How to choose the right brand designer

I'm Ash

How to choose the right brand designer. Making the decision to invest in your business by developing your brand identity or your website is a huge leap of faith and it’s one I don’t take lightly. I’m honoured to guide clients on this journey of discovery. Your brand should feel like a true reflection of you – your mission, vision and values. With solid strategy and thoughtful design, it will become your north star – guiding you in everything that you do in business – that’s what I aim to give you.

Here are 8 tips to help you choose the right brand designer:

1. Define your needs:

Start by clearly defining what you need from a brand designer. Are you looking for someone to create a logo, develop a brand identity, or design marketing materials? Having a clear understanding of your requirements will help you find a designer with the right expertise.

2. Research and explore portfolios:

Look for designers whose style and work align with your vision. Take the time to browse their portfolios and assess the quality and consistency of their designs. Look for examples that resonate with your brand’s aesthetic and values. You can view my portfolio here.

3. Check for industry experience:

Consider hiring a designer who has experience working in your industry or with similar types of businesses. They will have a better understanding of your target audience and the unique challenges and opportunities within your industry. Since 2019 I’ve served over 300 clients with diligence, integrity, expertise, and most importantly, joy. Combine that with a decade of commercial experience and tertiary qualifications, I curate thoughtful design and strategy to help your business grow. Learn more about my experience here.

4. Read reviews and testimonials:

Look for reviews or testimonials from previous clients to get an idea of the designer’s professionalism, communication skills, and ability to meet deadlines. Positive feedback and recommendations can give you confidence in their abilities. Google reviews are a great way to find legitimate reviews.

5. Seek recommendations:

Ask for recommendations from colleagues, friends, or other business owners who have worked with designers in the past. Their firsthand experiences can provide valuable insights and help you find a reliable and talented designer. I receive beautiful recommendations from my copywriter Hayley from Hayley G Creative and vice versa.

6. Assess communication and collaboration skills:

A good designer should be able to listen to your ideas, understand your brand’s values, and effectively communicate their own ideas. Look for a designer who is responsive, open to feedback, and willing to collaborate throughout the design process. 7. Consider budget and timelines:

Determine your budget and timeline expectations upfront. Discuss these factors with potential designers to ensure they align with your requirements. Be wary of designers who offer extremely low prices or promise quick turnaround times without compromising quality. 8. Trust your instincts:

Ultimately, trust your instincts when choosing a brand designer. Consider how well you connect with them, how comfortable you feel sharing your ideas, and whether you believe they can bring your vision to life. A strong rapport and mutual understanding can lead to a successful partnership. Look at their social media presence and the copy on their website – do they resonate with you?
