Luxury brand identity design: bringing Maison Gildæ to life

The Journal

Some businesses are too layered for a logo and a colour palette. They hold strategy, storytelling, transformation and beauty under one roof, and they need a brand that can hold all of it with grace. Maison Gildæ is exactly that kind of business, and bringing it to life was one of the most rewarding luxury brand identity design projects I have had the pleasure of working on.

Here is the story behind the maison, and what happens when design is treated as architecture rather than decoration.

A house built for every part of her work

Maison Gildæ was born from a lifetime lived across worlds, from operating theatres and humanitarian crises to boardrooms, global development programs and the leadership of 560 people across 33 countries.

After years of working inside institutions, its founder began to imagine a different kind of space. One where leadership could be both powerful and deeply human, where strategy could sit alongside beauty and wellbeing, and where women who have carried significant responsibility could reconnect with their own authority.

Maison means “house”, and that is exactly the point. It holds advisory and executive coaching, speaking and writing, retreats, and beautiful tools and ideas that help people lead and live with greater intention. At its heart is a simple conviction: we do not have to fracture ourselves in order to succeed.

Luxury brand identity design that holds four divisions

A house with four distinct divisions cannot be served by a single logo. Maison Gildæ needed a brand that felt quiet, intelligent and intentional, with the aesthetic discipline to bring strategy, storytelling, transformation and beauty together without flattening any of them.

So we built the whole world: the identity and style guide, the templates, the social presence and the website. Every element was considered and aligned, which means the brand feels like itself whether someone meets it on Instagram, in a document or on the homepage.

A website you walk through

The website is a custom Showit build, designed like the house it represents. Rather than handing visitors a list of services, it invites them to move through it room by room, with each one revealing another dimension of the work.

That is the difference between a website that informs and a website that welcomes. You can explore more projects like this in my portfolio.

In her words

Working with Ash at White Ink Creative showed me what becomes possible when design is treated as architecture, not decoration.

Together, we created far more than a logo. We built an entire brand world: one of quiet luxury, intellect, intention and aesthetic discipline.

The final brand does not simply represent Maison Gildæ; it welcomes people into its world.

What this means for your brand

If your business holds more than one idea, one audience or one season of your life, your brand needs to be able to hold it too. Three things made this project work, and they apply to any brand ready to be taken seriously.

Start with essence, not decoration. The most useful part of the process was finding the language for what the founder could feel but had not yet been able to articulate. Build the system, not just the mark, so every touchpoint speaks the same quiet language. And let the website carry the experience, because it is often the first room your ideal client walks into.

What’s next for Maison Gildæ

The founder is now completing her fourth book, Orchids Don’t Flower Every Day, her most personal work yet. It is the story of her own becoming, and of missionaries, misfits, mercenaries and matriarchs. Beyond the page, she plans to bring that story into speaking, intimate conversations and work with businesses and individuals.

Her closing thought is one I keep coming back to: orchids do not flower every day, and neither do we. But the days without flowers are not empty. They are where the next becoming begins.

Ready for a brand that welcomes people in?

If you can feel what your business is meant to become but have not yet found the words or the visuals for it, that is exactly where I love to begin. Learn more about The Brand + Website Experience™, or book a Clarity Call and let’s talk it through.

If your logo, your website, and your social feed all feel like they belong to different businesses, your dream clients notice, even when they can't quite name why. Every mismatched colour, font, and off-tone caption chips away at the trust you're trying to build before they've read a single word.

A cohesive brand doesn't just look beautiful. It signals the right things to the right people, consistently, everywhere they find you. This free guide gives you the framework to bring it all together.
