Signs it’s time to hire a Designer. When starting a business venture, it’s common for branding to be disregarded. Here are a few top reasons why you may feel this way:

1 – You don’t yet have a budget to spend on branding and can’t justify the cost at the time

2 – You think its something you can sort out later, once you’ve become more established

3 – You simply don’t believe its all that important

All of these reasons are completely understandable, your time and budget are precious. If you haven’t yet invested in your branding, that is okay! Recognising and considering investing in yourself and your branding is the first step to having an engaging, purposeful brand that captures the essence of your business.

Signs it’s time to hire a Designer

Here are 5 signs from the universe its time to hire a Brand Designer:

1 – You don’t have the time and skills to do it yourself

Time. Time is the biggest issue for all business owners, especially those doing everything themselves. The next is skills, you’re already doing absolutely everything in your own business from accounting, invoicing etc. to advertising, the last thing you want to do is learn to become a designer!

Learning all of the programs, and refining and developing skills and processes takes years. That is why it’s so important to consider your designer’s background as well as their creativity. You could easily chuck together a DIY logo, but to create a strong connection with your audience you will need much more than a ‘pretty logo’. Reserve your precious time, ditch the DIY and invest in the success and growth of your business with an intentional design perfectly curated by a brand designer.

2 – You’re embarrassed with your current branding

When a potential client or friend asks to see your brand, do you cringe? What you have to offer is nothing short of amazing, and deserves to shine with polished, professional visuals. The last thing you want is to be embarrassed every time you introduce someone to your business.

Your brand should capture the essence of your business, and reflect your heart and soul. When your brand is a true representation of you and your business you will be proud to illuminate your visual story.

If you’re feeling embarrassed by your brand, a brand designer dedicated to purposeful design like myself will transform your embarrassment into confidence and clarity.

3 – You feel your branding is inconsistent

If you’ve mostly DIYed your branding or bought a simple logo pack and then designed other marketing elements to go with it, I’m going to guess it’s probably a bit ‘mismatched’.

If you are doing it yourself, inconsistency isn’t ideal, but something you can learn from. Related blog – How to keep your Brand consistent.

As you grow, form a strong consistency around your brand. This will enable you to be recognised by your:

  • Colour scheme
  • Typography palette
  • Brand voice
  • Brand visuals

These are all key elements to forming a strong foundation for your business. Consistency will make it easier for your audience to connect and recognise your brand from elements other than your logo.

Engaging, purposeful brand design starts with the heart of your business and strategy before diving into concepts. Keep all of your elements as consistent as possible.

4 – You don’t feel like you have a brand
